Lifting kids off the floor by providing beds, love, and hope.
“Beds of Hope” offers another opportunity for everyone to reach out and meet the needs of the precious kids in War, West Virginia and its surrounding communities.
Three years ago when the Toy Store for Christ began, the South River men’s and women’s ministries partnered together to provide pillow beds and blankets for the children that spent their cold winter nights on cold floors. The past three years 400 pillow beds and blankets were given to the children at Christmas.
This past year South River’s Appalachian Coalfield Ministry and men’s ministry took another step to lift kids off the floor by providing beds, love, and hope. We built and delivered beds, as well as, twin size mattresses, sheets w/pillow cases along with pillows and blankets to help these kids enjoy warm winter nights through the love of Christ. On the side of each bed, a short Bible verse was imprinted. The Bible verse was placed so that each time the child gets in bed they will see God’s Word. But most importantly a personal Bible was placed on each pillow for every child to read. Many of the children that received a bed had never slept in a real bed.
These beds have the opportunity to give love and hope to a hurting family, but more importantly, they are being used to introduce the lost to Christ.
We started the “Beds of Hope”ministry by building 5 bunk beds and 2 single beds. Our prayer is that we will be able to provide multiple beds to children again this year, lifting kids off the floor by providing beds, love, and hope. We pray that God will spread this ministry in a powerful way.
PLEASE HELP US HELP KIDS! Our need from you is a generous monetary gift to purchase the complete bed which includes the mattress, sheets w/pillow cases, pillows and blankets. For a monetary gift of $250 you can sponsor a “Bed of Hope” or your Sunday school class may want to make a class project and sponsor multiple beds. All monetary gifts will be accepted. Consider asking someone, a friend, a neighbor, or a relative to contribute with you to help so they too may receive a blessing.
